Our Annual Fund
When our neighbor-in-need requires extra groceries for her family she often waits in line beginning at 11:00 pm. She waits outside in the cold at Bulah Church in Mount Vernon. The following morning, the Junior League of Bronxville’s (JLB) Mobile Food Pantry opens up to hand out fresh food to all those who have been waiting for hours in the same line.
It is because of the JLB, our relationship with the Food Bank for Westchester, and its Kraft sponsored Mobile Food Pantry, that many neighbors-in-need can feed their families healthy meals. Without this assistance, they might have to choose between buying food and paying rent, utilities or other essentials.
For over 65 years, the JLB has been making a difference, connecting needs, resources, volunteers, and opportunities in our community. We bring together the strength of women and the power of our community to make a difference in the lives of those in our service area of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe and Yonkers.
This year our League celebrates many achievements. We are beginning to reach our goal of fulfilling our Vision of “alleviating hunger and improving nutrition in Southern Westchester….” In addition, we celebrate the induction of our first African American President, Mitzi Ambrose-Washington. For those of you who do not know Mitzi, she brings to the JLB a wealth of for-profit and not-for profit experience and a passion for volunteerism. Mitzi has been a League member for 19 years, first starting out in the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound.
Please donate today. We need your continued help! I am asking you to join me in giving a gift in honor of our achievements to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund provides unrestricted funds for the JLB. When you contribute to the Annual Fund, you are helping to support:
- our community programs.
- the recruitment and retention of members.
- training and leadership opportunities for women.
- our operations budget and the future of our organization.
You may give through our website. We truly appreciate all you do for the JLB. With your support, we can continue to shine a light on the food insecurity issue in our service areas and improve our community through the expertise of our trained volunteers.
Thank you for considering a gift to our Annual Fund!
