Jr. League to Celebrate 60 Years of Service with Community Gala on Feb. 28

Feb. 18, 2009:  The Junior League of Bronxville will hold a special gala event entitled “A Sparkling Affair” to celebrate its 60th anniversary of service to the Bronxville community on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Bronxville Field Club.

The event, which has been in the planning for over a year, is being chaired by Nicole Salimbene and Heidi von Maur.  Also actively involved in its organization are 13 vice presidents, including:  Elizabeth Ackerman, Hilary Clarke, Rebecca Ervin, Kristina Gabelli, Vivan Koppelman, Emily Liggitt, Valerie McMurray, Beth Miller, Nora Nazzaro, Jessica O’Hare, Clare Palmeri, Jacqueline Prior, and Karen Sackett.  

Named to the Honorary Committee for the event are past presidents of the Junior League, including:  Andrea Bates, Nancy Beers-Nix, Elizabeth Brunson, Anne Churchill, Patricia Dohrenwend, Karla Disserens, Patricia Garvy, Nancy Hand, Kathrine Hite, Daryl Lubin, Suzanne McCann, Marie McKeige, Julia Meade, Connie Moustakas, Susan Murphy, Liza Near, Fran Pepe, Julie Silvi, and Elinor Urstadt. 

Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dancing will be a part of the festivities, along with a silent auction and some old-fashioned raffles. 

League President Elisa Shevlin Rizzo said of the event in the League’s monthly newsletter, “The 60th anniversary event is sure to be a true celebration of the League’s 60 years of service to the community and also a lot of fun.”

The whole community is invited.  Tickets are $100 per person, or as a Benefactor $150 per person.
