We are very honored and pleased to announce this year’s Sustainer Award recipient - Ruth Ann Brazill. Ruth Ann has been a member of the Junior League of Bronxville for 20 years.
As an Active member, Ruth Ann served on many committees and chaired the Women’s Health Issues Task Force, Family University, Festival of Trees, and Special Events/Fundraising. She was also a member of the Membership Development Committee and a Placement Advisor. Ruth Ann served on the Board as Community VP and received the President’s Award in 2000. Currently, Ruth Ann is a member of the Cancer Support Team’s Board of Directors, serving as Gala Co-Chair for their 30th Anniversary Celebration of Hope. She was also Co-Chair of their 2006 Gala.
She is a member of the Board of Directors and Fundraising Co-Chair for the Friends of the Bronxville Library, and Co-Chair for the Foundation for Educating Children with Autism’s (FECA) Fall Gala, for this as well as the past three years. Ruth Ann is a member of the Bronxville High School Graduation Committee and mentors a 9th Grade Reformed Church Confirmation student.
Previously, Ruth Ann was a member of Heartsong’s Board of Directors for eight years, serving as their Gala Chair for five years. She was a member of the Committee for Non Partisan Election of Bronxville School Trustees for three years, including roles as Vice Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer. She has been involved with Midnight Run, organizing the food shopping and preparation and has co-chaired the Memorial Day Silent Auction, chaired the Working Parents Committee and served as a Class Parent for the Bronxville School. Ruth Ann has also been involved with Westchester ARC as a benefit committee member.
While the vast array of Ruth Ann’s volunteer activities may exhaust many of us, in addition to all of her non-profit work, Ruth Ann works for AT&T in Law and Government Affairs. While she loves both her job and her volunteer commitments, her favorite times are those spent with her son, Trey, a junior at Bronxville High School.
Ruth Ann is a great inspiration to all of us as she provides a shining example of how to help others while doing what you love (and are really good at by the way). Her Galas have been nothing short of beautiful, fun events and all have been extraordinarily successful in raising funds for the organizations and causes to which she is so committed. Ruth Ann exhibits grace under pressure and exemplifies integrity and commitment in everything she does. The JLB applauds you, Ruth Ann, and congratulates you on this well-deserved honor!
